Nestled in the Agterkliphoogte Valley lies Windfall Wine, a small boutique wine farm and one of South Africa’s best kept secrets. Windfall took its name from South African cricketing legend, Eddie Barlow, who noticed the mist cascading down the surrounding mountains of Robertson, or “The Valley of Wine and Roses” as it’s come to be known.

Eddie Barlow bought Windfall as Spesbona from Phillip Lourens and later sold it to prominent KZN property developer, Robert Alexander, who has rejuvenated Windfall by restoring dams, replanting vineyards, unearthing new boreholes and establishing Windfall’s boutique cellar. 

Windafall Wine Range

We produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Mendola our MCC and Barrel 41 (our red blend) as well as an ageing pot still brandy from Chenin Blanc in barrels. To maintain our standard of excellence, we’ve decided to limit production to 600 bottles of each variety. This makes the hidden gem that is Windfall exclusive to a select few, which is why we’d like to extend the invitation to you, so that you too can share this journey with us. 

Guest Cottages @ Windfall Wines

Our guest cottages over look our beautiful valley with a backdrop of majestic mountains. Beautiful walks and MTB rides are easily accessible in the surrounds and on the farm itself. There are a few cellars in the area which offer tastings and cellar tours. A hop and a skip from Robertson town as well as McGregor.

Our units sleep between 2 – 4 guests. Perfect for Honeymooners!

There is a small play area for kiddies which includes a jungle gym, as well as a swimming pool and a dam for those who want to try their hand at fishing or relax at the boma which includes a braai facility and the most magnificent sunsets in the Robertson Valley.
